Help us bring radio to Harper Creek!
Harper Creek Community Schools is currently fundraising to launch WHCX 97.1, an FCC-licensed low-power FM radio station.
Harper Creek Radio will be the voice of the Harper Creek community. Our goal is to strengthen community connections and communication both within the district and the greater community in which it sits. Harper Creek students will play a large role in program creation, but opportunities will exist for organizations and individuals in the community as well.
Programming on the station will likely be eclectic, but a central theme is telling the stories of the people, places, and things in our area. The Harper Creek High School Radio Club is working on a variety of program ideas, including a news and variety show that will feature all things Harper Creek. The Radio Club students are also exploring more ideas including sports, historical features, and radio dramas. Additionally, we have interest from local organizations who want to be involved.
The station will rely heavily on automation to simplify its operation and reduce operating costs. Programming will largely be pre-produced and scheduled ahead of time; however, we plan to have students announce sporting events and special occasions live.
We ask for your support in making the station a reality.
